NCC TENNIS SPRING NEWSLETTER 2013
The Tennis Courts and Club House Look Fantastic!
Thank you to Lioudmila, Dan McIntyre new owner of Northgate Country Club, Chris NCC’s General Manager and also to Mr. Thoner who still takes pride in the ongoing improvements at NCC. All rough spots on all courts have been patched.
Carpets in the Tennis Club upstairs and down were professionally cleaned! Who can remember the last time this was done. Free Guest pass for the member that recalls...but you must have a witness. :o)
Just delivered: Our New State of the Art Playmate Ball Machine!! Liouda was adjusting the height and bombarded the golf course during the testing stages....Peggy hollered, "Liooooouda! HIT THE STOP BUTTON!!" But secretly…what fun accidentally sending a "few" - which by definition :o) is less than 10 but more than 3, green balls skyrocketing onto the greens, when a “few” little white balls find their way to the courts at times. Watch out GOLFERS, Tennis has live AMMO! If green balls are seen over the fairways...tennis staff is not guilty :o) All kidding aside…back to the newsletter.

Head Pro Kate is available to teach tennis classes: To book a lesson call 785-727-3929
or email kate@northgatecountryclub.com. Kate started playing tennis in Russia, the leading country in the world for Women's and Junior Tennis. She was nationally recognized as a junior and then received a full tennis scholarship at the University of Kansas. All four years playing for the Jayhawks she held the #1 position for singles as well as the # 1 position for doubles. Kate has a group of beginner kids she’s currently coaching. Having been trained at a young age by the most acclaimed junior coaches in Russia makes her an excellent coach; she is also a doubles specialist, bringing understanding and mastership of doubles play to her students of all ages and tennis levels.

Champs and Super Champs Academy & Off-Campus PE programs:
Mon, Wed & Thurs 4-6pm - These classes are for kids working towards playing on high school teams and advancing towards securing tennis scholarships. Students are taught all the aspects of tennis: physical, technical, mental skills and strategic match play. Each person is treated as an individual and is trained to achieve their potential as a tennis player, as a student and as a young adult. Through tennis we teach important and valuable life lessons that will help our students for many years to come, on and off the tennis courts.
Lioudmila, who is Director of Tennis here and coordinates our Northgate Country Club Tennis Academy, was coached from the age of 7 by her father; got to the finals of her first professional tournament at the age of 16, was ranked # 1 in Russia as a junior and ranked # 124 in the world. Liouda has a State Diploma in High Performance for Elite Athletes from France, which is equivalent to a US University Degree.
She understands the importance of balancing your child's commitment to training hard to achieve their tennis goals as well as making time for the other responsibilities they are involved in. With her coaching, time is taken to understand the parents and the student’s goals. Together as a team, parent, student and coach they assess progress and achieve these goals. Liouda is a life coach as well as an exceptional tennis coach.
There is no better place for your kids to train then at NCC Tennis Academy.
An interesting article was published a few days ago about benefits of tennis for the kids: http://www.tennisindustry.org/cms/index.cfm/news/usta-serves-special-report-shows-youth-who-play-tennis-get-better-grades-plan-to-attend-college-and-are-more-community-minded/
